Where your things start new lives.

Your donations bring food to neighbors and help people find home in Northern Michigan.

Thank you for taking time to bring things you no longer need to our donation centers. When you drive away, our team gets to work maximizing the value of your things, turning them into revenue that funds our community programs like Food Rescue and our services for people experiencing homelessness. At Goodwill Northern Michigan, your donated tea kettle or pair of ice skates turn into real hope and new starts for some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Housing Ends Homelessness

Wilma grew up in a community that suffers from deep historical trauma. When she lost her husband and two brothers, things built to a breaking point. She lived homeless for seven years, except for a short time in housing that didn’t work out. Her immune system is worn down from living this way for so long. It took time for Wilma to build relationships with our Goodwill Inn Homeless Shelter and Street Outreach teams and trust that something better was possible. Today, she is living in her own apartment. With the safety and security of supportive housing, her health is improving, and Wilma is working on next steps.

Patriot Place

Josh was wounded twice in war and then fell on hard times before coming to our Patriot Place housing community for Veterans in Gaylord. Now he has moved on to a place to live and a relationship with his mom. “Patriot Place helped me get where I am now and that’s nothing short of incredible,” he wrote.

Food Rescue

John’s family is one of 36% of households in Northern Michigan who struggle to access the healthy food they need. He’s juggling two jobs, an unreliable car, and the stress of holding onto stable housing for his three children, who are among 25% of youth at high risk of chronic malnutrition in Northern Michigan. His kids love it when he brings home corn and berries from the food pantry. Food Rescue is grateful to deliver 7,000lbs of food a day to food pantries and community meal sites, and 42% of it is fruits and vegetables.
