Candidate Profile 

Our Community Support and Volunteer Coordinator is a detail-oriented administrator who enjoys coordinating volunteer, donor, and employee efforts in support of Goodwill’s community programs. S/he is a multitasker with strong interpersonal, technical, and communications skills. Reporting to the Director of Communications, s/he is responsible for the organization’s volunteer and in kind donation programs, administers the Advancement Department, and coordinates events and special projects for the organization.

Essential Duties

  • Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Northern Michigan. 

  • Support the diversity and differences of others including, but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, individuals experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities.  

Key Responsibilities  

  • Oversee volunteer program, including onboarding, training, scheduling, and record keeping, in coordination with leadership team.

  • Oversee in kind donation programs for housing and homeless services. Process items, maximize their benefit to our mission, and distribute them to programs and partners.

  • Ensure donor data integrity with attention to detail, including data entry of philanthropic and in kind gifts, donor information updates, team member alerts on donor activities, and donor data reconciliation with finance department.

  • Plan and execute events and tours for volunteers, employees, donors, and community members.

  • Support marketing promotions, surveys, and contests.

  • Support employee, donor, and public relations communication activities including social media.

  • Provide administrative support including mailings, shipping, purchasing, and intracompany distribution.

  • Answer community inquiries and requests via phone and email.

  • Maintain a high degree of sensitivity regarding donor information and confidentiality in all communications.

  • Special projects as assigned.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • 1-3 years related experience in nonprofit communications/fund development support, or a relevant combination of experience.

  • Strong written, oral, and technological communication skills including Microsoft Office and donor management software.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to follow up with accuracy and precision.

Compensation

Compensation for this position is $21 per hour. Goodwill Northern Michigan offers benefits that include a retirement plan with match, group health plan, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid time off.
