Make a positive impact for neighbors in need working in a commercial kitchen in Traverse City. The Good Meals kitchen, located in the Goodwill Inn in Traverse City, is looking for Cooks and Kitchen Aide/Dishwashers to help us continue our work making meals for Meals on Wheels and shelter guests. Good Meals is a program of Goodwill Northern Michigan, one of Northern Michigan’s largest nonprofits and largest employers. Our Good Meals team members are flexible multi-taskers who enjoy working in a safe, productive kitchen environment.
Schedule
Monday through Friday from 7 am - 3 pm.
Candidate Profile
The Good Meals team works in a commercial kitchen under the leadership of our Good Meals Manager, making meals for people experiencing homelessness, homebound seniors, and people in treatment. The Good Meals team ensures quality standards in the kitchen at the Goodwill Inn, complies with local Health Department food safety and other regulations, and interacts professionally and cooperatively with team members and Goodwill Inn guests.

Goodwill Northern Michigan is one of Northern Michigan’s largest nonprofit employers. Using proceeds from our community-supported thrift stores, we run programs that bring food to neighbors and help people find home. With 250 employees, an engaged Board, a great staff, and generous philanthropic support, we work to meet fundamental needs for neighbors in need in Northern Michigan. Our Good Meals program makes 200,000 meals a year for guests at the Goodwill Inn, Street Outreach, Meals on Wheels, and people in treatment.
Compensation
Good Meals cooks start at $15 per hour. Kitchen aides/dishwashers start at $14 per hour. Goodwill Northern Michigan offers benefits that include a retirement plan with match, group health plan, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid time off.
