Computer Recycling Program

The partnership between Goodwill Michigan and Dell will create a sustainable and scalable computer collection system where Michigan residents can donate unwanted computers and computer-related equipment to Goodwill, where it will be responsibly recycled.

·         Create a portable, scaleable and repeatable model for a national program

·         Raise awareness of the need to recycle used electronics

·         Promote the concept of shared responsibility around product end-of-life issues

·         Educate consumers about responsible disposal and donation options for unwanted computers

There will be 73 Goodwill computer drop off sites in the state of Michigan.

In Northern Michigan donation sites are the Traverse City, Cadillac and Gaylord Goodwill Retail Stores.

This partnership takes into account not only the need to increase the volume of computers recovered from households but also the corresponding need to educate consumers about responsible recycling and reuse.

New partnership allows:

1.      Increase employment opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged.

2.      A free computer recycling outlet.

3.      Ongoing program with drop off during all regular donation hours at the Goodwill Stores.

4.       Acceptance of all home computer components.
