Appealing your SSDI/SSI claim
Do not get discouraged by a claim denial. Approximately 70% of initial claims are denied each year in Michigan. Appealing your claim is a process that can take up to 18 months. Careful preparation of your appeal is critical.
I filed my claim on my own, can I have help with the appeal?
All denials of claims have the right to appeal. The appeal will be a hearing before an administrative law judge. You are not required to have a representative at your appeal but your are entitled to representation at your hearing. Representation can be an attorney, non-attorney representative.
