*Employment and Vocational Services
The Goodwill Inn, through an agreement with Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan, Inc., provides various levels of employment and job placement services.
If appropriate, Goodwill Industries can provide temporary work opportunities for individuals until they can obtain a job in the community. There are a variety of work sites available, including retail stores and food service. For those having difficulties, a full assessment of work capabilities and disabilities is provided. Job coaching is available to those with disabilities.
Classes are given in employment basics, job search, job retention, job dependability, and self-presentation.
In addition, a partnership with the Michigan Department of Career Development-Michigan Rehabilitation Services provides a Vocational Case Manager at the Goodwill Inn to assist the disabled homeless. Services include employment intakes, vocational assessment; individualized vocational treatment plans, funding to remove employment barriers, and other support services. These clients are followed after they leave the shelter.
